The Connecting Young Moms Program at Beverly Hospital provides comprehensive support for teens and young women before and after giving birth. CYM works with young mothers to develop healthy and positive parenting skills through health and parenting education, community resources, and peer support. This is a free program offered by Beverly Hospital’s Maternal/Child Health Department. The CYM program provides emotional support, education about the physical and emotional changes during and after pregnancy, parenting education and skill building, assessment of family needs, and coordination of resources.

Job Description:

The Clinical Social Worker reports directly to the manager of Parent Education/Special Care Nursery. 

 

The social work role is essential for maximizing the quality of care for our clients facilitating peer support groups, connecting women with community resources, planning activities to promote engagement and healthy parenting opportunities, and other clinical case management needsThe successful candidate will have an interest in womans issues, teen parenting, child development, and support group facilitation.  

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Co-facilitation of weekly support groups. 

  • Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial needs assessments. 

  • Identify patients who are at high risk and/or have multiple or complex psychosocial needs. 

  • Advocates on behalf of patients and families to gain access to services and resources. 

  • Employs a range of direct clinical interventions including psychosocial counseling, crisis intervention, care coordination, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, safety planning, health education, resource referrals, and complementary therapies through a trauma informed care modality. 

  • Works effectively as part of a team. 

  • Collaborates with and holds professional relationships with outside community service agencies to optimize the provision of high-quality care. 

  • Provides specialized safety assessments and mandated reporting when abuse or neglect is suspected for vulnerable populations (child, disabled adult, elder). 

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records requirements.  

  •  Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Pursue pertinent continuing education and professional growth opportunities. 

  • Keeps current with social work and health care developments pertinent to job and profession. 

  • Complies with licensure requirements. 

 

Qualifications / Experience: 

  • Completion of master's degree in social work from an accredited institution. 

  • Massachusetts Licensure (LICSW or LCSW). LICSW strongly preferred.
