About the role

Bracing & Clinical Support Specialist  - FULL-TIME- FLOAT   M-F with 1 mandatory Saturday a month. 40 hours.  Will close one day a week.   Position Summary:           DME Coordinators are responsible for the patient fitting and education of all durable medical equipment as prescribed by the physician; both in the clinic and in the surgery center. Coordinates and advises on all aspects of the DME program, including insurance and billing.  Acts as a liaison between the DME department and physician teams.  Acts as a supportive role in clinic with daily duties.         
Position Responsibilities/Standards:
  • Fit patients with prescribed orthosis. This includes patient evaluation, modification and fitting, training the patient on fit and function, as well as answer any questions.
  • Accurately input patient information into EHR and ensure correct durable medical equipment is dispensed within the Breg Vision system.
  • Coordinates with the pre-cert department to obtain all necessary authorizations as required by Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, or private insurance in order to fit and bill for each orthosis.
  • Assist Director of DME with daily office operations: including (but not limited to)  maintaining Special Order Binder, patient messages, stocking and organizing product in the office.
  • Review and monitor inventory levels for durable medical equipment items unique to office at least two- three times weekly and provide order quantities needed to DME office lead. Assist with inventory counts as instructed by Director of DME.
  • Act as the liaison between DME office and physicians on all matters involving communications, paperwork, necessary patient information, etc.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training.
  • Any and all other duties required for the DME department to be successful with both the practice and patients.
  • Provide support to clinic staff by helping with overall flow of clinic (ie: cleaning exam rooms, rooming patients, injections, etc.)
    Education/Experience Required:
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to interface and work well with patients and co-workers with varying personalities and temperaments.
  • Provide positive customer service.
  • Basic anatomy knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task
Physical Requirements:
  • Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects.
  • Must be able to climb, pull, push, squat and/or kneel.
  • Ability to demonstrate exercises properly without limitations. 
  • Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs.
  • Average lift 25-50 lbs.
