What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. We are seeking a highly skilled Robotics Programmer to develop, program, and optimize 7-axis robotic arm machines for structured light inspection of aerospace components. This role will also involve configuring and integrating ScanBox systems utilizing GOM (Gesellschaft für Optische Messtechnik) software for precise metrology applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in robotic programming, machine vision, and automation processes within an aerospace or manufacturing environment.

  • Develop and optimize robotic motion control programs for 7-axis robotic arms.

  • Integrate structured light scanning technology for automated inspection.

  • Configure and calibrate GOM ScanBox systems for high-precision metrology.

  • Write, test, and debug robotic control algorithms to ensure system accuracy.

  • Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to optimize workflow efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to robot programming and scanning operations.

  • Maintain compliance with aerospace industry standards and quality control protocols.

  • Assist in operational activities for the clinic, ensuring alignment with overall team objectives and operational workflows.

  • Interact, engage, and cross-train with technical fellows to promote knowledge sharing and enhance team skills in robotics and automation technologies.

  • Train operators and technical staff on robotic system usage and maintenance to ensure safe and effective operations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR an advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5+ years of prior relevant experience

  • 5+ years of experience in robotic programming, preferably in aerospace or industrial automation.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  • 10% Travel

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with multi-axis robotic systems (ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, or Yaskawa/Motoman).

  • Background in aerospace manufacturing, defense, or precision engineering.

  • Experience in cloud-based data integration for metrology systems.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as: Python (for automation and data processing) C++ (for real-time system control) JavaScript/Node.js (for GUI development if applicable) PLC Programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)

  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with robotic simulation software (e.g., RoboDK, ABB RobotStudio, Fanuc Roboguide).

  • Strong understanding of machine vision, structured light scanning, and metrology principles.

  • Familiarity with GOM Inspect, GOM Correlate, and ScanBox automation workflows.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, OPC-UA).
