Description

St. Patrick Catholic School in Corpus Christi is seeking an exceptional individual for the following position: Administrative Assistant. This position will also fulfill Health Coordinator duties. St. Patrick Catholic School provides a beautiful education teaching the “whole child” through an outstanding academic program, spiritual formation, athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities.  We are a family-oriented community and strive to know, love, and serve God in everything we do.

 

The school secretary is responsible for performing general office functions.  The secretary should possess good public relation skills, organizational skills, and strong oral and written communication skills. 

 

Ministerial Character:

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him.  In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community.  In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people.  He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

 

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities.  Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

 

Responsibilities:

The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.

  • As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Maintains files and records as required by the Principal
  • Operates the various office machines including copier, computer, fax machine, etc.
  • Performs receptionist duties, including answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, greeting visitors, and answering questions on general information pertaining to the school
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail
  • Performs other office duties as directed by the Principal, including but not restricted to business office functions
  • Perform Health Coordinator functions including:
    • Ensuring that required health screenings for students are performed according to Diocesan and state requirements, and conducted by appropriately trained, certified screeners 
    • Monitor immunizations, maintain health records and emergency cards, and complete state and Diocesan statistical health reports
    • Attend Diocesan health coordinator meetings
    • Cooperate with health screeners and the Principal to complete follow-up of students with screening deficiencies or abnormalities and record screening and follow-up outcomes, immunization data, and pertinent health or chronic illness related information on a student's cumulative health record
    • Respect the confidential nature of health findings and records

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older 
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Experience in typing, filing, bookkeeping, and general office work 
  • Knowledge of effective use of technology
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have organizational skills and a thorough knowledge of general office functions 
  • Must demonstrate ability to deal with all school publics effectively and tactfully
