Product Design Director, Enterprise Risk Management

We’re currently seeking a Product Design Director to lead our Enterprise Risk Management and Operations Risk Management portfolio, which is part of the Risk and Audit Design team within Capital One’s Experience Design organization.
The ERM & ORM portfolio consists of eight, but growing to 10+, design professionals who are dedicated to our core governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) system and our risk assessments modernization initiatives, as well as oversight of the operations risk management space. This design team works collaboratively with our enterprise Risk business partners across Capital One, including business owners, product owners & managers, and engineering partners, to push innovation and user experiences to the edge of what is possible and beyond! Role Expectations
As a Director of the ERM & ORM risk design portfolio, you’ll lead a talented, cross-disciplinary team of designers and collaborate deeply with our research teams and Product and Tech leadership. You’ll be responsible for leading high-impact, highly complex projects and defining and driving design strategy that informs the higher-level vision of the organization and aligns to business objectives.
This a People Leadership role, which means that potential candidates will require prior managerial experience in building and leading agile, professional design teams; we are looking for premier people leaders who understand what it means and what it takes to lead, guide, mentor, and integrate a design team with business partners, from inception to product delivery. The ideal candidate will also have a high degree of business acumen, with experience in the financial services sector and/or risk management practices, who understands the importance of design quality and its connection to delivering business outcomes. Finally, we are looking for a leader who can drive a strategic vision that is not only focused on what we are doing now, but who can own and sustain effective cross-functional partnerships and help lead our team into the future of what is possible.

Product Design Expertise: Leverage established expertise and leadership in product design to elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital One. Leveraging a variety of skills across interaction, visual and service design; in collaboration with cross-functional partners, help to oversee and optimize the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks and design systems and enable your team to develop artifacts that may include vision stories, journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs and prototypes
