JOB TITLE:    Maintenance Worker II-Grounds; 1.0 FTE/ 8 hours per day; Probationary
F.L.S.A.           Non Exempt
Assignment:  Director of Maintenance
Reports To:    Director of Maintenance
Salary:           $20.66 - $25.32    (2025-26 salary schedule; 2026-27 salary schedule to be determined)

 JOB SUMMARY:
Performs skilled groundskeeping work and irrigation repair of playing fields and all landscaped areas throughout the District. Understanding in lawn turf maintenance and irrigation systems and other specialized skills are needed to perform these responsibilities. May be responsible for supervision of grounds keeping program throughout the District, as well as coordinate the District's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. Performs duties with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.

1.    Performs routine maintenance duties throughout the District.
2.    Knowledge of commercial irrigation systems and grooming, fertilizing, overseeding, ground leveling, of large grass areas, tree pruning, and landscaping equipment maintenance.
3.    Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
4.    Estimates the scope of each work assignment and secures necessary tools and materials to complete the assignment.
5.    During winter months grounds crew are required to assist the maintenance department in repairs (doors, walls, ceilings, latches, locks, bleachers, lockers and fences).
6.    Performs plumbing, carpentry, and painting as necessary or requested to maintain building effectively.
7.    May have to respond after hours in event of an emergency.
8.    Performs safety inspections and writes reports.
9.    While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
10.    Works collaboratively with District and building administrators and other department staff to provide reliable service to customers.
11.    Communicate clearly with coworkers and other staff.
12.    Provide impeccable customer service.
13.    Interacts thoughtfully, courteously, and professionally with students, staff, administrators and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
14.    Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
15.    Attends work regularly and is punctual.
16.    Annually pass the district's required online training by the district's assigned due date. 
17.    Follows and maintains knowledge of all applicable District policies and procedures.
 


MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.

  1. Answers telephone.
  2. Checks e-mail for staff requests.
  3. Assists custodial departments as necessary.
  4. Attends staff meetings and trainings as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. Associates degree or other technical training strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough working knowledge of landscape maintenance and grounds keeping methods and materials and the use of maintenance equipment equivalent to that gained in three years of experience. Previous experience working in large scale landscape maintenance positions required.
    Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Ability to interact with students and staff appropriately. Creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for students and staff.
