Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE:
Advises and collaborates with school-based administrators and district supervisors throughout the process of documenting performance concerns and providing support for improving work performance of employees. Oversees training related to performance, improvement plans, and policy requirements. Also supports supervisors and employees with complex leave issues and excessive absences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
Extensive knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures related to public school employee performance and evaluation;
Extensive knowledge of the North Carolina Educator Effectiveness System (NCEES) and the overall evaluation process of professional staff;
Extensive knowledge of the evaluation process of classified staff;
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; Google Apps;
Considerable knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures related to public school employee performance and conduct;
Considerable knowledge of laws relating to employment, including the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts;
Ability to respond quickly to multiple and varied activities, and plan, and manage projects within time constraints;
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of very sensitive matters and information;
Ability to analyze facts and present recommendations;
Ability to handle difficult situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and impartially;
Ability to work independently without close supervision, but also function as a member of a team;
Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, the public, school system attorneys, and external agencies.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Education, Human Resources Management, or a related field; AND
Five years of experience providing support for employee performance improvement; AND
Demonstrated successful experience using NCEES, including the online portal; OR
An equivalent combination of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License;
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License for School Administrator–Principal;
Experience as a Human Resources administrator in reviewing employee performance issues, employee disciplinary issues, and/or conducting investigations; OR
Three years of experience as a school-based administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advises and collaborates with school-based administrators and others in supervisory roles to support and document employee efforts at improved performance. Advises administrators and employees of their rights and obligations in personnel matters and employee evaluations.
