Position Title: Printing Lead                                                           

Reports to: Department Supervisor            

Location: Lumberton, NC

Date: April 2024                                 

PRINTING PRESS OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY:   To lead the press crew in the everyday operation of the press, to ensure that we get make-readies and runs in the most efficient manner possible to achieve top quality production. They understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

 

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Train new crew members
  • Make sure production order is checked for quality
  • Check internal register
  • Maintain and check color using densitometer
  • Perform shift handoffs
  • Monitors production in both Sheeting and Printing
  • Act as Supervisor in the event of their absence
  • Manages waste collection and removal
  • Fork-Lift Certified
  • Ability to make plates for presses when needed
  • Manage the completion of Preventative Maintenance
  • Routing jobs in SAP
  • Flexible shift hours based on production needs
  • Side guide and sheet check for register jump
  • Make sure die numbers, copy, and code numbers are checked
  • Ensure SAP/Ignition recordkeeping
  • Make sure all materials from previous job are removed before beginning new run
  • Notify supervisor of any problems with press, ink, board, plates, or personnel

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MECHANICAL SKILLS:

Ability to pass the pre-employment Mechanical Assessment

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

COLOR MANAGEMENT

Set up and troubleshoot color management software, including Measure Color, closed loop camera systems, ensure appropriate print quality and validate color consistency on make-ready.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read
