Institute of Health Sciences Education

Position Summary:

The research assistant will contribute to a planetary health medical education research project exploring the perceptions of resident physicians primarily involved in in-patient medicine on planetary health. This paid position will help the study investigators with participant recruitment, survey data management, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who wants to make a meaningful impact in planetary health and medical education.

Responsibilities:

1) Distribute Study Invitations: The research assistant will manage the distribution of study invitations to participants throughout the recruitment phase of the research project.

2) Manage Survey Data: The RA will compile the survey data, ensuring that all information is appropriately de-identified to maintain participant confidentiality. 3) Perform Descriptive Statistics: The RA will analyze the quantitative survey data to generate descriptive and comparative statistics. 4) Conduct Thematic Analysis: The student research assistant will conduct thematic analysis on qualitative survey to identify recurring themes, patterns, and insights relevant to the study objectives.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled undergraduate or medical student at McGill University.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with study participants and research team members.

Prior experience with research methods, survey administration, and data analysis is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
