Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for Postdoctoral/Visiting Fellows; taking lead responsibility for postdoc trainees including being a resource for the on-boarding process, preparing and presenting NIAID orientations, and sharing postdoctoral training opportunities.
- Collaborate, assist, and support predoctoral training programs; serve as a resource for onboarding process, preparing and presenting orientations, and sharing postdoctoral training opportunities.
- Develop, establish, coordinate, and manage intramural recruitment and training opportunities including post-docs and pre-doctoral trainees, specializing in postdoctoral and visiting fellows.
- Manage and coordinate logistics, marketing, event announcements, and recruiting for NIAID Training Programs; emphasis on postdoctoral, visiting fellows, and pre-doctoral trainees.
- Provide support and assist within all training programs; develop and implement strategies for reaching wider audiences.
- Educate trainees about further training and career opportunities available to them both within and outside the NIH; advise and support fellows in grant writing and submission.
- Ensure compliance of fellows with mandatory NIH training including Responsible Conduct of Research Ethic.
- Develop, plan, and execute the annual post-doctoral fellows retreat; facilitate retreat committee meetings with the intent of shaping and providing direction to the committee; set and track event planning timelines and deliverables ensuring that all phases are completed by established deadline.
- Research current trends in training and education; remain current on topics associated with biomedical training and career development.
- Apply standards and metrics to evaluate programs; provide formal and informal reports on success and areas for improvement.
- Utilize data reporting software to prepare and present visualizations of program metrics; provide the highest level of data security and integrity.
- Establish and maintain a database of all current postdoctoral and predoctoral trainees and alumni; track awards, recognitions, publications, grants, and career transitions.
- Build and maintain distribution lists for postdoctoral trainees, visiting fellows, predocs and alumni.
- Assist with writing, preparation, compilation, and distribution of program newsletters; provide highlights for postdoctoral, visiting fellow, and predoctoral programs.
- Develop, establish, coordinate, and manage specialized programs in collaboration with the training office to meet the training and career development needs of postdoctoral and predoctoral trainees; including but not limited to grant writing (K22 and K99/R00), public speaking, alternate career paths, and skills workshops for further professional development.
- Assist in selection, coordination, and scheduling of guest speakers and panelists to provide hands-on training and skills workshops for trainees.
- Provide a range of administrative and technical functions related to outreach activities and programs for training and education in biomedical research; schedule appointments and meetings, arrange speakers, plan and organize conferences and teleconferences; send out invitations, track responses, conduct surveys, and prepare reports.
