About the role

Description

Tulane University’s Department of Economics and National Center for Research on Education Access and Choice (REACH) seek a post-doctoral fellow with an interest in market-based school reform to conduct and publish original research. One-third of the fellow's time will involve carrying out applied econometric research, leveraging extensive linked student-level linked datasets, the National Longitudinal School Database (NLSD), and other data sources. Another third of the fellow's time will go toward acting as managing editor of the AEFP Live Handbook of Education Policy Research and teaching one undergraduate course per year. The remaining time will be available for the fellow to work on other projects, including dissertation publications and others unrelated to the work of the center. Funding will be provided for advanced training courses and conference travel. 

The fellow reports to Douglas N. Harris, Professor and Chair of Economics, the Schleider Foundation Chair in Public Education, founding director of REACH, and editor of the Live Handbook at Tulane University.

Review of applications will begin no later than January 1, 2026 and continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications

1. PhD in economics, public policy or related field (must be completed before start date).

2. Experience and training in econometric analysis of student-level education data to address questions, preferably related to school reform.
