About the role

The Gig:

Virgin Voyages is seeking a seasoned Manager, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead our innovative team responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our IT systems. This role will be pivotal in maintaining the seamless operation of our systems and applications, supporting our mission to revolutionize the cruise industry.

What You Will Be Up To:

• Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of SREs, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

• Reliability: Develop and implement strategies to ensure the high availability and reliability of all systems and services.

• Performance: Monitor and optimize system performance to meet business needs and customer expectations.

• Scalability: Design and implement scalable solutions to handle the growing demands of our innovative cruise line operations.

• Incident Management: Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts to minimize downtime and prevent future occurrences.

• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to build reliable and efficient systems.

• Automation: Drive automation efforts to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.

• Monitoring: Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.

• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, processes, and incident reports

SuperPowers Required:

• 5+ years of experience in IT and technology.

• 3+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or a related field.

• Proven track record in managing and scaling reliable systems in a high-growth environment.

• Industry experience in cruise, travel, or hospitality is strongly desired.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.

• Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Experience in workflow management tools (e.g., Airflow, CRON)

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack)

• Solid knowledge of networking, security, and database management.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

• Strong communication skills: technical and functional, written and verbal.

• Effective in working with a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team.

• High sense of integrity, accountability, and dependability.
