Lead Administrative Nursing Supervisor

Position Summary: The Lead Administrative Nurse Supervisor is a member of Nursing Administration who is responsible for the 24/7 staffing, mentoring, evaluation of and supervision of Nursing Supervisor Administrative Coordinators.  The Lead Administrative Nurse Supervisor works collaboratively with the Nursing Administration leadership to ensure educational requirements, regulatory requirements, quality improvement initiatives and hospital operational needs are met for all staff within Patient Care Services. This role may include evening, night, and weekend shifts and assumes the role of Nursing Supervisor/Administrative Coordinator as needed.  The Lead Administrative Nurse Supervisor is a liaison for any administrative concerns The Lead Administrative Nurse Supervisor oversees readiness rounds and ensures quality and regulatory compliance within sphere of responsibility.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:  

  • Supervision: Oversee and direct the work of Nursing Supervisors.
  • Supervision: Oversee and direct the work of nursing, social work and counseling staff on the off-shifts (evening, weekends, and holidays).
  • Scheduling: Plan and manage staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and appropriate skill mix across the hospital.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews and staff competencies, as assigned. 
  • Training and Development: Mentor, train, and provide ongoing education to nursing supervisors and nursing staff.
  • Patient Care:
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure that clinical care is consistent and meets established standards and protocols.
    • Patient Safety: Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
    • Communication: Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, clinical staff, and providers. Manage any patient, family or staff complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
    • Care Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, behavior support plans, and therapeutic intervention plans as needed. 
  • Administrative Tasks: 
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of patient care and staff activities. 
    • Quality and Performance Improvement: Participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives and data collection. 
    • Problem Solving: Address and resolve issues and concerns related to safety, patient care and staff performance.
