Job Description:
As part of the West Real-Time team, this role will be responsible for monitoring real time energy flows, dispatching power generation facilities, communicating with the CAISO and other counterparties in the WECC region, scheduling electricity needs for our clients in the in the WECC region, and capturing market opportunities. Please note, this role works a modified DuPont schedule, which requires working day shifts and night shifts on an alternating schedule over a five week period.Responsibilities
- Manage/mitigate risk for the asset owners
- Capture market opportunities based on real-time positions and analysis of market conditions
- Conduct real-time trading and tagging for purchases and sales of energy and ancillary services
- Build relationships with market participants
- Communicate real-time market information to energy managers as well as cash and term traders
- Document all communication with CAISO, WECC counterparties, and plant operators.
- Maintain regulatory requirements with FERC
- Prioritize deliverables and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines throughout each shift.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree required – Accounting, Finance, or Engineering preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience in the energy sector required, Real Time trading/operations experience preferred
- Experience with a variety of power markets including PJM, MISO, NYISO, NEPOOL, ERCOT, CAISO, or WECC. CAISO and WECC experience preferred
- Proficiency in the OATI Tagger, OATI OASIS, ISO portal applications, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required in order to provide updates to others including desk relief, energy managers, and clients
- Basic analytical skills required for pricing, risk assessment and transaction structuring
