Job Summary
The Phlebotomist 1 draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Performs all pre-analytical functions. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Develops a complete understanding of specimen collection and handling in order to preserve specimen validity and integrity. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks and works under close supervision. Must have excellent customer service skills.
Job Requirements
Experience: Entry-level with no current hospital experience OR Previous experience is more than 1 year in the past
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Training: Graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy, MLA or MA program (or equivalent) OR Certification-eligible as a Phlebotomist, MLA or MA
Licensure: Phlebotomy, MLA, or MA certification or graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy, MLA or MA program
