Senior Underwriter D&O (Hybrid; m/f/x/d)

About the Role

 

Underwrite proficiently Executive Risks (D&O, POSI, EPL, PTL, Commercial Crime) portfolio for Spanish & Portuguese commercial corporates as well as for financial institutions (D&O only). Builds up and maintains connections with relevant brokers and clients, generates a flow of relevant submissions.

 

• Continue to develop the Executive Risks book in Spain & Portugal and be part of a dynamic and growing EMEA Casualty & Finpro team. 
• Underwrite Financial Lines business: assessing financial situation, coverage, terms and conditions, rating the business within the available rating tool landscape and ensuring application of internal guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to position Corporate Solutions on primary and excess placements at the earliest possible stage.
• Adapt and fine tune the current strategy, in coordination with the internal technical referents and the sales & distribution team, to achieve a profitable sustainable growth.
• Develop and strengthen relationship with relevant brokers and clients.
• Negotiate with clients and brokers in cooperation with the branch manager and / or the client manager where applicable.

 

About the Team

 

You will join the GL&FinPro local team and be part as relevant member of the Spanish SRI branch and as well a broader and technical European FinPro organization.

 

About You

 

• With a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Spanish & Portuguese direct D&O insurance market, preferably withing an insurance company/MGA.

• With an existing network of brokers and clients on the large corporate and middle market segment.

• Ability to perform financial analysis, draft wording clauses, assess risks, coverages, terms and conditions of an insurance placement and to respect internal guidelines.

• Ability to work in a team environment and to perform under time pressure.

• Pro-active, highly motivated, result oriented.

• Strong negotiating, commercial and communications skills. 

• Proficiency in the use of IT applications.

• University degree in Finance, Economics or Law.

• Native or Fluent in Spanish. Proficient in English. Any other European language, in particular Portuguese, will be a plus
