The Human Resources Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function at Ojo Santa Fe Resort and Spa. This position performs professional work of considerable complexity and is responsible for a wide range of administrative functions within human resources. It ensures that HR programs align with and support the Resort’s long-term business goals by coordinating activities that maximize the strategic use of human capital and maintain core functions including employee relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, safety, performance management, policy development and implementation, employment law, and regulatory compliance. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:


Supervision:

  1. Oversees and manages the work of reporting Human Resources staff.
  2. Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department.
  3. Develops department goals, objectives and systems.
  4. Responsible for the hiring of employees within the department.
  5. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves problems.
  6. Encourages the ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.
  7. Manages and coordinates weekly office meetings to review work for the week, and discuss on-going projects and tasks.
  8. Evaluates decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  9. Ensures work schedules are maintained.

On-Going:

  1. Reviews, approves and officially signs off on all Personnel Actions such as New Hire, Status Change and Termination paperwork.
  2. Advises company managers about Human Resources issues.
  3. Provides advice and counsel to department heads, managers and staff on updating and interpreting programs.
  4. Represents the Resort for any unemployment claims, and prepares all documentation for claims and appeals in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.

Recruitment and Staffing:

Recruitment

  1. Reviews and approves new employment advertisements.
  2. Screens, evaluates and interviews job applicants to fill select salaried, exempt, professional job openings.
  3. Performs reference checks for select exempt positions.
  4. Schedules candidate interviews with department managers for select exempt positions.
  5. Reviews questionable background checks and approves adverse action letters.

Staffing

  1. Conducts all terminations, including paperwork.
  2. Conducts exit interviews.
  3. Reviews termination file and eligibility for re-hire when former employee re-applies for a position.
  4. Analyzes attrition data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

New Hires:

  1. Develops and oversees the successful On-Boarding process.
  2. Conducts weekly new-hire orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of the company Core Values, benefit plans and enrollment provisions.

Payroll and Benefits:

  1. Oversees the successful management and coordination of all Benefits Open Enrollments.
  2. Handles and approves all FMLA claims and resolutions.
  3. Coordinates and resolves employee pay discrepancies with Payroll and Accounting and Gene
