THE POSITION: Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around our facilities. Working as a Maintenance Technician typically requires 1+ years of related experience within the organization.
Essential Job Functions of the position may include:
- Performing general PM on equipment/machinery: This includes changing blades, lubing, wiping down, replacing belts, changing out parts, changing air hoses, and checking/changing out punching dies.
- Providing maintenance /repair to the machinery currently in place “Sani slat punchers, Sani Rail cutters, Sani slat cutters, B & B punch machines, Makita chop saws, table saws, other punch, and drill stations, sewing machinery, lift/testing stations”.
- Building things from wood like racks, rolling table, and carts.
- Learning the operations of all machinery to help be able to solve issues quicker.
- Servicing air compressors
- Having a high level of troubleshooting knowhow.
- Understanding the current QC level in place that needs to be met for all machines.
- Checking functions for safety on equipment.
- Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door, or wall repair. Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped.
- Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
- Maintaining the building HVAC equipment to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
- Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
- Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary according to process.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions immediately. Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Provide training to other technicians in various disciplines as needed.
- Train subordinate employees on job skills and Company policies and procedures.
- Actively contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts and projects.
- Communicate constantly with supervisor regarding issues that may come up at work.
- Communicates any problems which arise to the supervisor.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Require a high school diploma or an equivalent degree such as a GED.
- At least 1-2 years of work experience in a high volume, process manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Ability to read blueprints; electrical; hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
- Ability to use basic tools and electrical tools: “hand saws, chop saws, drills, screw drivers, level for test racks, and more”.
- Ability to use ladders or scissor lifts. Forklift license required.
