Purpose
The Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL) develops multi-platform software suites for government customers for multiple applications, which include real-time data-intensive network operations, standalone remote field systems, and digital signal processing algorithms in both Linux and Windows environments. SGL monitors the long-term performance of GPS, monitors the performance of geodetic-quality GPS receivers, and designs and executes government tests for industry produced receivers.
We are seeking a software developer to join our Digital Signal Processing (DSP) team. As a member of the team, you will be designing, implementing, and maintaining DSP algorithms in software or hardware, for GPS, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and other RF signals.
Responsibilities
Design DSP algorithms.
Develop, test, document, and maintain DSP software.
Process and analyze data.
Work with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to meet project milestones.
Participate in project reviews and technical interface meetings to present software designs and test results to sponsors and other external organizations.
Provide technical assistance to users.
Document and address bug reports.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related discipline.
Three years of related/applied research experience.
Understanding of and experience with DSP techniques.
Proficiency with numerical analysis packages such as Python or MATLAB.
Attention to detail, critical thinking, and desire to work in a team environment.
Ability to debug software operating on hardware at all stages of its development process.
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related discipline.
Ten or more years demonstrated experience in developing and implementing DSP algorithms.
Demonstrated experience with analysis and interpretation of results of processing digital receiver data.
Demonstrated experience with any of the following: Verilog/VHDL, Python, Matplotlib, C++.
Experience implementing DSP algorithms in hardware (FPGA and/or GPU platforms).
Experience with any of the following: multi-rate signal processing, software-defined radio, HF radio, remote sensing, radar, wireless communications, RF signal processing, radio astronomy/interferometry
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
