This position will provide full disciplinary and functional leadership of the US Launchers Engineering team to include the disciplines of Design, Analysis, Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials & Processes, and Industrial Eng. as well as equipment and J&T lifecycle support. The position will also provide engineering expertise to development projects and series production programs in all relevant fields.  This includes experience in metallic and composite structures for launchers, spacecraft and non-space applications, as well as thermal protection systems.
The Director Launchers Engineering US is responsible for leading and developing the engineering team, including all related disciplines.
 

Your Mission
•    Heads all Engineering activities related to launcher structures in an international set up.
•    Provides technical expertise in different engineering fields, including launcher structures subsystems, analysis, design, manufacturing engineering and materials and process of composite structures. 
•    With a customer focus, the US Director Engineering is the ultimate technical PoC of our customers, thus representing Beyond Gravity’s US Engineering to both internal and external stakeholders.
•    Develops competence needed in multidisciplinary engineering teams and pushes for innovation and continuous improvement (know-how/tools/methods). 
•    Provides transnational resource planning and is responsible for maintaining and developing all assigned Engineering teams. 
•    Contributes to R&D-, competences- and provides input to the Division technologies strategy and roadmap in area of responsibility together with other Engineering teams of the other business units. 
•    Owns overall line management responsibility over all assigned Engineering teams in the Alabama Business Unit.
•    Takes the managerial and leadership responsibility towards own direct reports, performing HR processes such as competence planning, recruitment, performance management, development etc. 
•    Owns budget responsibility for the costs of the department as well as fulfilment of tasks assigned by projects 
•    Proactively communicates and aligns with the adjacent Engineering departments for best practice and synergies.
•    Leads according to the Beyond Gravity’s Values and Code of Conduct, and drives the people & leadership development within the Department
•    Supports hiring, training, developing and motivating engineering personnel for assigned area; establish team performance goals and objectives
•    Assures and coordinates all ME activities for both development and series projects, in close cooperation with project management, product engineering, direct and functional management.
•    Supports hiring, training, developing and motivating engineering personnel for assigned area; establish team performance goals and objectives.
•    Supports process and engineering tools development to ensure consistency of engineering decision making across sites and teams. Fosters risk evaluation and mitigation (pFMEA), design-to-cost, design and analysis verification, technical documentation, manufacturability and traceability.
•    Supports proposals, change management and non-conformance processes.
•    Supports the development of enhanced production processes.
•    Supports make-or-buy processes, provide necessary inputs; interface with material suppliers and manufacturing houses; presents ME status at meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
•    Supports generation of ME documentation: e.g. specifications for supplier, test plans and procedures, manufacturing work instruction, test evaluation reports, trade-off reports. Provide inputs to DDVP, parts, materials and processes lists, and AIV plan. Reviews and approves material-allowables and other technical documents.
•    Leads modelling, simulation and analysis of work processes with state-of-the-art methods.
•    Ensures the implementation of industrialization and investment projects.
