Sr. Inside Sales Account Manager

Position Summary:
The Inside Sales Account Manager (ISAM) is the primary sales representative responsible for the achievement of sales objectives and growth targets for a specified territory with Illumina. Territory includes exciting opportunities to grow smaller existing customers and establish new customers. The ISAM role is exciting and challenging as you can work directly with academic institutions, government entities, research and healthcare centers, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical business organizations utilizing your scientific knowledge and lab experience while selling products for the world leader in Genomics.
The position is home-office and customer-facing based with an expectation of ~15% travel time, depending on geographic location of customer concentration.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of large number of small accounts including personnel and responsibilities, budgeting, internal operations, products and services, competition, and market
- Develop strong understanding of Illumina’s technology and products and continues learning as Illumina’s product portfolio evolves
- Effectively sell the total Illumina product portfolio and end-to-end solution, including: Consumables, Instrumentation, Bioinformatics, and Professional Services
- Prepare and give compelling customer sales presentations and participate in all sales activities and assist with general customer demonstrations, training, and support
- Achieve sales targets and be responsible for accurately forecasting and maintaining leads, account details and up-to-date opportunity information in CRM database
- Develop accounts within assigned territory via inbound, outbound, and sales lead engagement to guide them to the Illumina products that best meet their needs
- Coordinate with internal resources to resolve customer questions or objections, create and submit customized offers, and complete the sales process
- Establish and maintain a strong, positive and productive relationship with customers, including product end users, management and purchasing
- Work with the broader sales team, including Sales Specialists and Product Care
- Coordinate and communicate sales activities and strategies effectively to supervisors
- Effectively build a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline and manage the necessary levels of sales leads, prospects, and opportunities
Position Requirements:
- Proven track record in Life Science/ Medical devices with impressive sales numbers, ability to build and maintain long-time relationship
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, telephone sales skills
- Proficient understanding of sequencing across clinical and research
- Understanding of regional specifics and regulatory landscape
- Knowledge of CRM platform is a plus
- Creative thinking, detail oriented, excellent time management, team player with high self-drive to succeed
- Strong analytical skills and commercial sense to develop strategic and tactical action plans
- Work in time zone of the sub-region aligned to; while preference may be given to those residing in time zone, living in time zone is not required
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree or a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
