Reporting to the HR Director Operations & SC, the NA HR Compliance Manager will effectively build in partnership with HR, COE’s and Legal Teams a comprehensive strategic plan to remain compliant as a NA Organization.  The incumbent will ensure local, state/provincial, and Federal employment requirements are adhered to and monitored. This newly created position will ensure oversight over the region’s employee compliance programs such as Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity, HR Managed Social Responsibility topics and other self-auditing and monitoring HR Compliance processes, Management of HR Policy requirements, workforce training and HR capability building.

 

How You’ll Add Value:

 

  • Leads the creation and implementation of the NA HR Compliance Strategy, ensuring stakeholder engagement and building policies, processes, tools and raising capability to deliver and execute desired objectives.
  • Acts as the NA Regional Lead as key partner to Global Compliance regarding Code of Conduct content, training commitment as well as and partners with NA HRLT on employee relations issues, including assigned complex workplace investigations to ensure compliance with required and advisable legal protocols. Ensures compliance training requirements in topics such as Harassment Free and Equal Employment Opportunity by creating content or driving vendor relationships to deliver organizational training and leadership capability build.
  • Monitors regional compliance developments in coordination with applicable HRBP’s as well as recommends and drives the creation of new or relevant updates to policies in alignment with changes in legislation or other legal requirements are considered for the region.
  • Proactively identifies and quickly resolves new and emerging potential risks through regular risk assessment through the introduction of location self-audits and monitoring systems as well addressing gap closures through content creation, training, or other gap closure methods as appropriate.
  • Affirmative Action Plan Program owner inclusive of maintaining vendor relationship, reporting and gap closure as appropriate.
  • Supports demographic filing and data administration on required topics based on government requirements and requests for information.
  • Oversees Social Responsibility Audits in the plants/offices by tracking committed timelines, policy, processes, and program interpretations.  Subject matter expert and content creator in support of audit readiness and preparation of our HR Teams. Partner with Finance, Legal, and other teams as required to support additional recurring audits.
  • Acts as SME in the regional requirements regarding the aspects of pre-hire review, onboarding, employment authorization eligibility, Employment Status/Temporary/Independent Contractor assignments and mandatory workforce training
  • Supports COE’s, HR and Legal team to keep employment agreements, supporting documents, Employee Handbook, and others as required.
  • Partner with HR, H&S, and NA Benefits team to advise on leave of absence escalations, workplace accommodations are consistently addressed and in compliance with company policy as well as applicable state, provincial, and federal regulations (FMLA, ADAA, AODA).
  • Partner with the Legal team and other required stakeholders to ensure appropriate compliance and governance of our people processes as well as support all other duties as assigned.

 

About You:

 

  • 7+ years’ experience in HR compliance/legal/human resources roles with at least three years demonstrated experience leading at a regional level or SME leadership expertise in HR Compliance.
  • Experience supporting both US and Canadian Markets
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • HR Compliance leadership experience with a passion for innovation and process improvements
  • Proven ability to research and interpret employment laws and regulatory changes, participating in continuous HR training.
