About the role
In this role, you’ll be building foundational technologies to operate and scale the productivity applications used daily by all Amazonians. We’re building a global-scale, flexible systems integration framework that brings a varied multivendor application landscape up to Amazon’s standards and practices.
The software development engineering role is a blend of software development with a broad-based understanding of distributed systems and infrastructure, failure modes, and operational resilience.
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building services that scale for millions of users around the planet
- Inventing new ways to automate away operational toil
- Working with AWS Lambda serverless system designs
- Building CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code into your projects from the start
- Integrating with first- and third-party applications to build cohesive solutions
- Ownership of one or more services, from design through support
A day in the life
You'll work with our customer teams to integrate our services into ours to automate away their operational load. You'll develop new products from the ground up that help Amazonians make effective use of productivity applications, by making it easier to safely and securely use them, connect across tools, and get visibility on how they and their teams are using them. You'll make it possible for these applications to work transparently in zero-trust architectures.
About the team
The Amazon Enterprise Engineering organization supports the technologies Amazonians use to collaborate and build solutions to delight customers every day. We support e-mail, video and audio communications and streaming, content management, endpoint clients and productivity applications used across the AWS and e-Commerce organizations.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Arlington, VA, USA
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience deploying software will fully automated CI-CD pipelines.
- Experience with the Amazon CDK.
- Experience with TypeScript (preferred), Python and/or Java.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Experience deploying software will fully automated CI-CD pipelines.
- Experience with the Amazon CDK.
- Experience with TypeScript (preferred), Python and/or Java.
