REPORTS TO  

Department Supervisor or Manager 

 

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION  

The Team Lead has a broad responsibility to ensure the department meets set safety standards, housekeeping standards, production targets, and quality standards. Ensures that the personnel are assigned work properly and the department is organized. This position communicates set goals and is responsible to ensure these targets are met. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

• Set clear team goals 

• Delegate tasks and set deadlines 

• Oversee day-to-day operation 

• Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture 

• Motivate team members 

• Discover training needs and provide coaching 

• Listen to team members feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts 

• Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments  

• Encourage creativity and risk taking 

• Suggest and organize team building activities 

• Ensure the set-ups in the department are safe and correct, meet or improve target time, and are properly handed over to the employee. 

• Ensure that material transfers and moves are correctly done. Continuous auditing and training are crucial.  

• Continuously verifies counts on incoming and produced parts by auditing internal vendors and customers. 

• Unresolved issues must be communicated up the chain of command.  

• Evaluate target achievement continuously, taking corrective action when needed. 

• Keep area, machines, tools, and equipment clean, organized and clear of debris. 

• Ensure that machines’ safety protocols are all functional, safety checks done ongoing. 

• Must use correct PPE and dress safely for the job. 

• Ability to develop others. 

• Responsible for section in the supervisor/managers absence. 

• Ability to take ownership. 

• Maintain and promote safety when using equipment 

• Complete additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Management 

• Remain flexible if required to assist in other areas 

 

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES  

• Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor 

• Knowledge of performance metrics 

• Good PC skills, especially MS Excel 

• Excellent communication and leadership skills 

• Decision-making skills 

• Computer literate; knowledge of Excel and data entry 

• Good organizational skills and able to multitask 

• Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and presentation forms 

• Must possess good problem solving and delegation skills, form teams and set targets and be able to be innovative. 

• Ability to work consistently without constant supervision 

• Must be professional and have a good work ethic 

• Must work well in a team environment as well as independently 

• Experience in a fast-paced production environment is a plus 

 

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 

• Manufacturing experience a plus
