Overview
The Senior Project Manager IT is accountable for the successful end-to-end delivery of strategic projects, programs, and portfolios. The job leads projects, programs, portfolios or leads an Agile ART or several agile teams, through the systems development life cycle from planning through hyper care, working in close partnership with IT and business leaders including executive sponsors. The work also includes leading, collaboration, coaching team members and influencing others outside their direct team to ensure the success of initiatives.
Specialized Skills and Technologies
- Experience in managing large and complex technical projects
- Understanding of fundamentals of IT Architecture & Systems to deliver solutions is a must
- Experience in integrating multiple systems (logic and data) across the enterprise is required
- Functional knowledge and experience in implementing large and complex solutions either related to software, data or Infrastructure projects is required
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools is required
- Ability to create and follow work and data flow charts is required
- Need to understand Software Development Life Cycle and various delivery methodologies like Waterfall and Agile
Primary Responsibilities
- Engage and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Continuously monitor costs and implement improvements to drive down the cost to plan and deliver
- Drive process improvements in project delivery working in collaboration with key stakeholders in support of business objectives
- Ensure key stakeholders can properly collect, prioritize, plan for, and execute projects
- Execute required change management activities including training and communications
- Leverage best practices, implement new processes, procedures, and controls to improve delivery capabilities overall
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, forecast financial and resource needs to meet established objectives for delivery
- Keep an eye to latest trends and best practices within the Portfolio and Project management space
- Applies significant knowledge of industry trends, developments, and capabilities to address and improve business capabilities
- Ensures that solutions and services deliver at or above expected business value
- Plan and run test plans
- Define test metrics and monitor testing to ensure testing is completed per project schedule
- Create work break down structures to support project delivery and track plan
- Develop level of efforts by Develops and recommends changes to policies and procedures
- Build strong teams
- Provide strong leadership over a diverse team of individuals including providing coaching and guidance to team members
- Develop communications, training strategies and execute against them
- Create and maintain project budgets
- Identify, analyze, track, and manage to closure project risks and issues
- Manage and organize project teams to support project needs
- Manage projects to successfully meet business requirements and outcomes
- working with resource managers as input to finalize project plans
- Use level of efforts to assist in developing project budgets
- Manage project progress and create effective status reports
- Manage all required project documentation per SGWS PMO standards
- Define resource plan and manage throughout project life cycle
