Summary
The Senior Manager of Business Operations, Research Support Services (RSS), is responsible for the business management, implementation, and strategic effort toward the successful financial performance of RSS. This includes but is not limited to the administration of financial resources, and the financial management and oversight of personnel management, and other operationally related activities. The role is designed to facilitate the implementation of strategic initiatives by setting goals, mobilizing the team, developing project plans, monitoring progress and performance, and providing continual communication and support to RSS management and lead.

Job Duties
• Manages day-to-day operation of Research Support Services, including compliance, administration, space utilization, and financial management. Actively collaborates with key department and college stakeholders to maximize effective business operations.
• Develops, manages, and controls budgets and financial data for the various offices and develop and implements successful revenue growth and expense control strategies; certifies financial transactions by validating adequate budget and adherence to policies and fund requirements.
• Manages a business operations team, including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, recruitment, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
• Develops, in coordination with RSS HR, staffing plans and productivity guidelines for budget availability and department needs; Manage financial tasks on the HR side, such as the appropriate allocation of personnel to fund centers and effort reporting oversight and pre- and post-certification.
• Leads the creation, identification, and analysis of metrics to improve business performance. Provides management and oversight of staff and project team members assigned to strategic initiatives.
• Develops plans to support the growth of the research mission by creating and implementing operational plans needed to maximize resources. Addresses issues that impact or impede operations. Anticipates delays and initiates plans for alternative solutions.
• Develops the annual budget and a semi-LIB for control purposes.
• Reviews transactional data against cost centers and sub-accounts monthly to quarterly and provide reports to fund managers.
• Oversees or originates special projects or programs. Supports all RSS through workflow improvement, annual capital and facilities plan, and improvements in the office.
• Develops and implements process improvements, policies, procedures, guidelines, and internal controls.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in higher education administration.
