Data Engineer Intern

Beyond Finance offers a challenging and rewarding summer internship program. The 8-12 week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Applications will be collected, reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted in late winter.

 

The Database / Business Intelligence Intern will assist the data group in setting up data validation checks, and implement additional security protocols to assist the security of the data warehouse. This intern will gain in-depth experience using the Snowflake (data warehouse) and Airflow platform.  If time allows they will also assist in rolling out a comprehensive data dictionary which will be used by all data users.

 

This internship will be flexible as either 100% remote or a combination of part-time remote/virtual and part-time in office.

 

Responsibilities

• Assist in standardizing and documenting an approach going forward for data validation checks and identification of data to mask.
• Build alerts, notifications, or dashboards that will allow us to easily review data and uncover issues/errors
• Recommend system changes or configurations in order to enable data integrity
• Assist with testing any configuration changes put in place
• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

• In-process of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or MIS 
• Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Ability to work independently with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Understanding of relational databases including parent-child relationships
