Job Description Summary

As a site of the National Writing Project located in the Miami University English Department, the Ohio Writing Project (OWP) works with Miami University campus partners and departments, K-12 teachers and school districts and community partnerships. The Coordinator of the Ohio Writing Project reports to the Co-Directors for all assigned functions and is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day office operations, overseeing programmatic organization, supervising student employees, and supporting the vision and goals of the Ohio Writing Project. This position is an annual appointment, contingent upon funding.

Job Description

The Coordinator of the Ohio Writing Project will collaborate with the Co-Directors to:

  • Create, track, monitor, and reconcile all financial records, budgets and payroll, including workshops, professional development, conferences, grants, university accounts, scholarships, donations, and independent contractors.

  • Maintain reporting for OWP programs such as workshops, professional development, grants, university accounts, donations.

  • Work with clients and vendors to manage invoices, contracts, and payments and maintain up-to-date files and reports. 

  • Collaborate with Co-Directors to complete and submit proposals for credit workshops and oversee registration for workshops, including working closely and resolving issues with Miami offices such as the Graduate School, Global Initiatives, Registrar and Bursar. 

  • Work with Co-Directors to collect, organize, and report key figures for annual NWP report as a NWP designated principal investigator.

  • Maintain OWP office organization, including supplies and communication and supervising student workers. 

  • Assist Co-Director in managing Youth Writing Camp and community partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: Associate degree plus 3 years of related work experience.

Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills congruent with a collaborative management style.

Consideration will be given to candidates with experience with Higher Ed systems and experience in a customer service environment; have strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills; be detail minded and organized; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; have the ability to handle numerous tasks; have a willingness to learn new systems; must be responsible with confidential information.
