Role Overview:

KX is seeking a Principal Product Manager (Aerospace & Defense) to drive the adoption and expansion of its technology portfolio within the Aerospace & Defense market. This role requires a seasoned leader with expertise in enterprise AI solutions, software development lifecycle, cloud deployments, and data integration. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering business value as a trusted advisor, along with deep experience in product management and supporting  US Federal Government and the Defense industry.     

The Principal Product Manager will engage with customers, prospects, and partners to understand user needs and use cases. They will also collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Services to analyze market trends, refine product positioning, highlight key benefits, and champion their product offering. 

The Principal Product Manager will serve as the primary focal point for planning, design, and implementation stages of new or improved product features related to Aerospace & Defense and will need to be capable of communicating value and impact of those features/changes. 

Responsibilities

  • Own the Aerospace & Defense product vision, ensuring alignment with company strategy while staying ahead of market trends, industry shifts, and domain advancements. Continuously champion the vision to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.  
  • Partner with customers to develop compelling use cases that drive business value, translating them into clear requirements and specifications. 
  • Transform business needs into features and capabilities, mapping use cases to actionable tasks and structured project plans. 
  • Balance short-term customer deliverables with long-term product strategy, making informed trade-offs across internal teams. 
  • Foster cross-functional alignment between Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service. 
  • Build and maintain trusted customer relationships through effective, proactive communication. 
  • Mentor internal teams on the unique challenges, capabilities, and operational nuances of the Aerospace & Defense sector. 
  • Collaborate with Sales and Pre-Sales to align on customer use cases and identify product opportunities.  
  • Ensure security and compliance remain a priority, aligning the product with Aerospace & Defense market requirements.  
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and KX facilities as needed (+10%) 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree in Science or Business Administration preferred. 
  • 3-5 years of experience working with independent software vendors providing products to the US Federal government 
  • At least 5 years of experience as a product manager working on enterprise B2B software 
  • Experience in business consulting, solutioning, and product or delivery management for data analytics solutions a plus. 
  • Hands-on experience in AI/ML, data science, cloud infrastructure, solution architecture, application development, and data engineering. 
  • Technical proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or object-oriented programming; able to read and understand code though not an engineer. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
  • Expertise in on-premises and cloud deployment methods within defense and intelligence environments, including security and compliance considerations and DevOps practices. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, with strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
