About the role
The Tool & Die Maintenance position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Montgomery, AL.
- Able to construct and repair all kinds of metal parts, tools, and machines.
- Able to understand and interpret complex mechanical drawings and written specifications.
- In-depth knowledge and high skill level for use of all machinists' hand tools and measuring instruments/equipment.
- In-depth knowledge and high skill level of operation all machine tools, such as but not limited to lathe, drill press, grinders, and other specialized machinery.
- High skill level in the use of heat-treating equipment and processes.
- Thorough knowledge of shop math and formulas, use of all charts and tables, working properties of all metals and dimensions of standard bolts, screws, threads, and tapers.
- Capable of efficiently planning shop work and doing highly complex shaping of metal parts to precise dimension within prescribed tolerances.
- Required to work independently of direct supervision.
- Inspect parts for defects and workmanship.
- Maintain Quality Standards according to specifications.
- Operating and programming computer numerical control machine (CNC) equipment preferred.
- May be exposed to high noise levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Individual must have completed a 4-year Journeyman's machinist program plus 3 years experience, or a 2-year Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology, with 5-years work experience as an all around Machinist. 10-years work experience at the Machinist-B level or higher may be substituted in lieu of education requirements.
- The following abilities will be tested: Lift truck.
- General working knowledge and application of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and applied physics.
- Continuous lifting of 5-25 lbs.
- Frequent lifting of 25-60 lbs.
- Occasional lifting of 60+ lbs.
- Frequent strain due to position, unsupported lifting.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and/or lift repetitively during shift.
