Project Accountant (Real Estate) – Remote | AU Timezone
Full-Time | Permanent Work From Home
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM AEST

We are an Australia-based company in the real estate sector seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and highly analytical Project Accountant to join our remote team. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background in project accounting within the real estate industry, including residential and commercial developments. You will play a vital role in monitoring project budgets, managing financial reporting, and supporting the project management team with accurate cost and revenue tracking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the financial performance of property development projects

  • Prepare, track, and report on budgets, forecasts, and cost analysis

  • Collaborate with project managers and development teams to review project progress and financial variances

  • Oversee and reconcile job costing and ensure accuracy of project-related financial data

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable related to assigned projects

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, cash flow projections, and variance analysis

  • Maintain project billing schedules and ensure timely invoicing

  • Assist with compliance, audits, and regulatory reporting as needed

  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and stakeholders

  • Recommend process improvements for better financial controls and reporting



Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Accountant, preferably in the real estate or property development industry

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and project financial management

  • Strong experience with accounting/project management software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Buildsoft, or similar)

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis)

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment

  • Must be able to work full-time during Australian business hours (AEST)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Australian real estate or property development companies

  • Familiarity with trust accounting or strata management is a plus

  • CPA/CA certification is an advantage but not required
