About the role

The Principal Consultant serves as a senior technical and client-facing subject matter expert, providing consulting leadership across complex data center engagements. This role includes deep expertise in hyperscale fiber infrastructure, structured cabling design, deployment, testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and standards compliance.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Partners with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.

  • Build strong relationships with existing clients for repeat business.
  • Maintain frequent client communication, make regular client visits and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Conduct meetings with clients and management to determine project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Develop business proposals, SOWs and other reports when required.
  • Negotiate project terms and conditions with clients as needed.
  • Implement product development initiatives to meet future client needs.
  • Identify project risks and challenges and develop resolution plans.
  • Schedule regular client meetings, process client invoices and review engagement letters.
  • Provide project trainings to clients as needed.
  • Identify business opportunities and convert them to projects.
  • Plan and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Identify potential customers through networking, referrals, and communities.
  • Track project progress and identify and correct any delays.
  • Report project status to clients on regular basis.
  • Provide support in developing functional and technical specifications.
  • Act as the Fiber Subject Matter Expert (SME) for hyperscale data center design, deployment, commissioning, and remediation activities.
  • Lead and review structured cabling and optical fiber designs, including backbone, horizontal, inter-rack, and high-density connectivity architectures.
  • Provide technical guidance for single-mode and multimode fiber systems, including MPO/MTP and LC connectivity, polarity, loss budgets, pathway planning, labeling, and cable management.
  • Validate fiber infrastructure against applicable BICSI, TIA, ISO/IEC, and customer-specific data center standards and requirements.
  • Develop and review fiber test plans, methods of procedure (MOPs), acceptance criteria, and quality-control processes for large-scale deployments.
  • Provide expertise in Tier 1 and Tier 2 fiber testing, including optical loss testing, polarity/continuity validation, OTDR analysis, inspection/cleanliness, and troubleshooting of failed links.
  • Analyze fiber test results and field conditions to identify root cause, recommend corrective action, and drive closure of installation and performance issues.
  • Provide technical leadership to project engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and customer teams performing high-volume fiber installation and testing.
  • Review drawings, bills of material, fiber matrices, port maps, test documentation, and as-built records for accuracy and constructability.
  • Support client design reviews, technical workshops, proposals, SOW development, estimating, and solution recommendations related to data center fiber infrastructure.

What you have

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting fiber infrastructure in hyperscale data center environments.
  • Current BICSI Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC) certification required.
  • Current BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification required.
  • Demonstrated experience with high-density fiber design, installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation in large-scale mission-critical environments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across complex, high-volume fiber environments.
  • Ability to develop standards, best practices, installation procedures, testing methodologies, and acceptance criteria for large-scale fiber deployments.
  • Ability to interpret data center drawings, fiber matrices, cable schedules, rack elevations, port maps, and test reports.
  • Proficiency with fiber inspection and test equipment, including optical loss test sets (OLTS), optical power meters/light sources, and OTDR platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber types, connector systems, MPO/MTP polarity methods, optical budgets, insertion loss, reflectance, and link performance requirements.
