GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
As an experienced Wire Operations Specialist at Golden 1 Credit Union, your contribution will be crucial in advancing the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. This role requires advanced knowledge of wire processing operations, cross-training in multiple workflows, proven team collaboration, and a deep understanding of the complexities of related processes. This position’s primary responsibilities include supporting branch staff with wire entry and member inquiries and issues related to wire transfer activity, assisting Business Member Services with business member account concerns, monitoring wire queues for timely processing, careful review of all wire activity for accuracy, funds availability and fraud concerns, and providing wire transfer reports daily to management, Accounting, and other departments as required. In addition, diligently safeguard the members’ and credit union's best interests, ensuring prudent financial practices and strategic decision-making.
Lastly, in this role, you will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and updating procedural documents, answering procedural questions from department and frontline staff with professionalism, maintaining service levels, researching, and resolving audit quality control errors, and cross-training new and existing staff. You will also provide phone coverage for incoming calls, communicate, interact, investigate, and resolve member inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
1. Efficient Processing and Documentation: Exhibit exceptional attention to detail in reviewing and processing consumer and business incoming and outgoing wire activity and Golden 1 Corporate wires, ensuring that all critical deadlines are met, and that end of day balance reporting is timely and accurate. Monitor investment fund account and complete drawdown requests or fundings as applicable.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed and maintain a comprehensive understanding of state and federal laws and regulations that govern credit union compliance and wire transfer transactions, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position - includes, but is not limited to, Reg J, Reg E Dodd Frank, bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position. Assist with monitoring compliance for established internal audit policies and procedures.
3. Inquiry and Issue Resolution: Proactively identify, investigate, and take full ownership of resolving complex inquiries, issues, discrepancies, or complaints with professionalism and diplomacy. Promptly escalate any concerns that may impact system integrity, fraud detection, or member satisfaction, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Report member complaints per Credit Union policies and procedures. Assist GL Wire Clearing Account Reconciler in identifying and clearing exceptions and prepare journal entries as needed.
4. Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and detailed records of all interactions, transactions, communications related to workflows; review and update workflow procedures and prepare statistical information to Management.
5. Communication: Strong written and verbal and effective communication skills with internal staff/external financial institutions/agencies and members, demonstrating soft/active listening skills, empathy, and professionalism.
6. Training and Professional Growth: Stay abreast with credit union and departmental training by actively engaging in knowledge-building sessions. Pursue self-directed development, cross-training opportunities to elevate expertise in workflow responsibilities. Participate in credit union professional development programs to enhance career progression.
