Job Purpose

Leads the financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis functions at Christie Lites to support the Company’s financial performance.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare key financial reports.
  2. Prepare an analysis of financial results.
  3. Coordinate the financial planning process.
  4. Assist in automating and streamlining the consolidated financial reporting process.
  5. Train, supervise, and evaluate direct reports.

1. Prepare key financial reports by:

  • Preparing monthly financial reports for key stakeholders and identifying key trends and variances to support management decision-making.
  • Preparing flash reporting of key financial metrics (eg. weekly billings).
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining performance dashboards and KPI reports.
  • Preparing presentation materials for key users.
  • Overseeing the ongoing design and improvement of financial reporting models and processes.

2. Prepare an analysis of financial results by:

  • Analyzing and interpreting key trends for evaluation and/or attention.
  • Identifying and researching variances to forecast, budget, and prior periods to determine explanations and business drivers for both operating (payroll and non-payroll) and capital spending results.
  • Performing ad-hoc business reporting and analysis as required.
  • Assisting in preparing and supplying information and analysis in conjunction with the company’s annual external financial audit as well as supporting any other audit or regulatory requirements.

3. Coordinate the financial planning process by:

  • Coordinating the annual financial planning process (operating and capital budgets, balance sheet, and cash flow projections) and related multi-year projections.
  • Documenting and maintaining key assumptions and details.
  • Understanding the impact of changing external environmental factors and risks on business forecasts.
  • Preparing presentation materials for key users.

4. Assist in automating and streamlining the consolidated financial reporting process by:

  • Partnering with the accounting team during the closing process, which includes reviewing general ledgers, reconciliations, accruals, etc.
  • Reviewing financial reports, presentations, and other management reporting needs.
  • Focusing on value-added analysis designed to improve financial processes.

5. Train, supervise, and evaluate direct reports by:

  • Reviewing and completing the evaluation of direct reports periodically.
  • Contributing to a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement.
  • Training staff as appropriate.

Professional Attributes for success in this role

  • Holds CPA or CFA designation.
  • Holds at least a bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a finance environment with exposure to general accounting, budgeting & forecasting, financial analysis, and corporate reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles is required.
  • Prior roles in FP&A preferred.
  • Computer skills – MS Office including strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software applications
  • Experience with financial reporting tools would be beneficial.
