SVP of Clinical Development & Data Science

Recursion is seeking a seasoned leader to head our Clinical Development Data Science team. In this vital and innovative role, you will guide the application of pioneering data science methodologies to Recursion’s growing clinical development, with a focus on transforming clinical trial design and execution to enhance patient outcomes and help transform how Recursion develops and brings innovative and transformative medicines to patients. 

This role will be new to Recursion and we are looking for someone with innovation at their core while also pioneering a new way forward for our Clinical Development and Data Science teams. If you have a strong background in Data Science, deep experience in Clinical Development, and a passion for Decoding Biology - this role is for you. 

What you will do: 

• Oversee the design and implementation of advanced analytical models and algorithms to help design, and execute clinical trials leveraging complex RWE and clinical trial data to ensuring high-quality, actionable outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with the company’s world-class discovery and development teams to support the advancement of pre-clinical and clinical stage programs, aligning with the company’s corporate goals
• Develop and execute a strategic vision for using data science methodologies to streamline and optimize our clinical development processes and outcomes. Shape the industry trends and advancements in data science and clinical development, integrating state-of-the-art technologies and techniques into our processes.
• Communicate complex data science concepts and project outcomes to various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
• Build and lead a team of data science (AI, RWE) and clinical development and operations experts. 

Who You Are: 

• Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in data science, with at least 5 of those years in a leadership role within the biopharma or techbio industry 
• Deep understanding of clinical development processes, with a focus on oncology.
• Proven track record of applying data science methodologies to enhance clinical trial design, execution, and analysis.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire teams and effectively communicate complex concepts.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and practices in the biopharma industry, specifically clinical development.
• Publications in data science or clinical development conferences/journals is a plus but not required
