Job Duties
The DGS Bureau of Facilities & Maintenance (BFM) within the Division of Capital Square Services (DCSS) is looking to hire a skilled Grounds and Landscape Supervisor. BFM is a customer-focused organization that provides high quality, cost effective and timely services for the roughly 75 state and legislative agencies located within the Capitol Square complex. We operate and maintain approximately 6.45 million square feet of space at the Capitol Complex and throughout the metropolitan Richmond area, including office buildings, the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and monuments.
The Grounds & Landscape Supervisor will work in a multi-craft team environment, overseeing a diverse group of skilled and unskilled laborers to maintain the grounds and landscapes of various state properties, including office buildings, the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion, and monuments.
The role requires a comprehensive understanding of various plant materials and turf, as well as extensive knowledge in the mechanical use of landscape equipment. The Grounds Supervisor will also be involved in snow and ice removal and cleanup, ensuring that the grounds are safe and accessible during adverse weather conditions. This position is classified as essential, meaning the supervisor must be available to work 24/7 in the event of weather emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
• Considerable knowledge of various plant materials and turf.
• Ability to plan, assign, and lead the work of a varied group of skilled and unskilled laborers.
• Ability to communicate with a variety of people, including tenants, vendors, contractors, and employees.
• Ability to perform manual labor; stand/walk for extended periods; routinely lift, push, or pull 20 pounds; and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work 24/7 in the event of weather emergencies (position is classified essential).
Additional Considerations
• Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience with computer-based work order management systems or automated service work request systems.
