Position Overview
Ensures that Physical Therapy services are administered and completed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner within the acute care setting at Wilson Medical Center. Provides comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, treatment planning, and skilled interventions for hospitalized patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and critical care diagnoses. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to support patient recovery, promote safe mobility, prevent functional decline, facilitate discharge planning, and optimize transitions of care. Performs patient assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, establishes functional goals, and provides ongoing reassessment throughout the inpatient stay. Completes all required clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. Maintains specific service delivery standards that reflect a commitment to patient-centered care, customer satisfaction, quality improvement, effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, timely service delivery, information processing standards, corporate compliance requirements, and the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment of care.Primary Department, Division, or Unit:

$40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience-----

Job Responsibilities:
Comprehends, interprets, and follows medical prescriptions for Physical Therapy. Applies the accepted principles, methods, and procedures of measurement, prediction, and evaluation tests to assess patient’s strengths and limitations, and assists patient to achieve objective short and long term goals. Demonstrates knowledge of side effects and complications of services provided.
Administers and interprets clinical physical therapy services for assigned patients. Adjusts treatments according to patient's response to planned physical therapy treatment protocol.
Maintains accurate records of each patient's treatment, progress, and/or regression according to the Service Delivery Standard using paper or electronic systems, as necessary. Maintains all necessary records required to meet the criteria established by reimbursement and regulatory agencies.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients, their families, and other staff personnel. Participates in patient care conferences with other professionals involved in the management of cases. Provides patient and family education, as needed.
Participates in planning decisions for patient's post-discharge placement. Makes appropriate referrals and follows up to ensure proper placement and programming of patient. Interfaces with vendor to provide needed durable medical equipment.
Provides direction to Physical TherapistAssistants, departmental support staff, departmental clerical staff (as duties relate to treatment), physical therapy students, and volunteers.
Has knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI).
Pursues professional development and contributes to department learning.
Has knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI).
Meets defined individual and departmental productivity targets as defined by clinical service areas.
Comply with proper hand hygiene protocols to ensure patient safety.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy, receiving applicable degree in physical therapy study with Bachelors or Master’s Degree or equivalent.
Possession of a current license or eligibility to be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New York.
CPR certification within the first 3 months of hire
Preferred:
Master’s or Doctorate Degree; Previous physical therapy experience in a hospital-based setting.
