Vice President Business Alliances

 

As part of our Business Alliance Management team, you'll contribute to our corporate success by steering BioNTech's collaborations with large pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies and academic partnerships.

 

Responsibilities:

 Lead complex negotiations with existing business partners of BioNTech: this includes defining and validating BioNTech negotiation perimeter with key stakeholders, drafting and negotiating term sheets and contracts for expanded research and clinical activities, licensing & collaboration agreements for existing partnerships

  • Manage global tier 1 alliances with leading Biotech and Pharma companies, serving as a primary point of contact, ensuring alignment with the BioNTech strategy and maintaining a strong working relationship

  • Ensure the proper governance of existing partnerships with pharma, biotech and academic partners, including contract compliance

  • Work closely with Business Development when advanced negotiations take place with new partners of BioNTech and prepare the handover from Business Development to Business Alliances for proper kick off of the novel alliances once contracts are executed

  • Work efficiently with internal stakeholders and advisers to manage value-increasing business operations (including interactions with BioNTech's project management, finance, legal and intellectual property teams)

  • Contribute to the corporate development and specific business strategies of BioNTech by identifying new opportunities within our partner network, in particular in the United States

  • Contribute to building out our digital Business Alliance systems together with the rest of Business Alliances team

  • Represent BioNTech within our partner network and attend alliance governance meetings globally

  • Manage, lead and develop a team of Business Alliance managers based in the United States

 

Requirements 

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Natural Sciences, with more than 18 plus years of professional experience in the field of Alliance Management, Business Development or Project Management in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Past experience in leading major transactions is a must – a Deal Sheet will be required prior interview of the candidate.

  • Experience in reviewing and drafting legal documents with great orientation to detail

  • Strong knowledge of the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, drug discovery and development

  • Strong Leadership skills: ability to analyze complex business cases, make clear recommendations on Deal terms to the Global head of Business Alliances and present his/her recommendation to BioNTech leadership including the Management Board, work in tight collaboration with the US leadership team

  • Strong negotiation skills: track records in negotiating and executing agreements, including handover to the functional owner, and in managing strategic alliances at global level

  • Experience with Intellectual Property and License terms

  • Financial and business acumen: understanding of economic assumptions underlying contract nego
