<p><strong>Job Overview </strong></p> <p>A Software Engineering Group Lead leads a software development team as they create software solutions for AEVEX, typically related to unmanned systems. They serve as a "player/coach", working alongside the team to ensure projects are successful while mentoring in coding, debugging, testing, code review, and troubleshooting, to ensure best practices. This persons serves as an in-house expert, both for managers from other departments who need software solutions and the less experienced staff within the Software department.</p> <p><strong>Essential Functions </strong></p> <ul> <li>Responsible for all aspects of the software development process including requirements, design, implementation, functional test, troubleshooting</li> <li>Work with upper management to define software requirements and take the lead on operational and technical projects</li> <li>Lead specification, design, development, maintenance, integration, documentation, debug and testing of software for Windows and embedded software applications in C and C++</li> <li>Identify and implement best practices in simulation methodologies, tools, and frameworks</li> <li>Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of software engineers</li> <li>Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously</li> <li>Engage employees by creating a climate in which they want to do their best</li> <li>Provide oversight and direction to the employees in accordance with AEVEX’s policies and procedures</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> <li>Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].</li> <li>Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.</li> <li>Embodies AEVEX’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications and Competencies </strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently with little supervision</li> <li>Strong proficiency in C++, C#, Python or other programming languages</li> <li>Possess excellent organization and problem-solving skills with extensive hands-on experience in software development</li> <li>Strong foundation integrating hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) systems</li> <li>Understanding of real-time simulation requirements such as reducing latency and synchronization with hardware systems</li> <li>Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies</li> <li>Familiarity with aerospa
