For every child, the right to a future
The humanitarian crisis in the State of Palestine remains dire, with ongoing conflict, displacement, and limited access to essential services severely impacting children and families in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Despite an October ceasefire, acute malnutrition, devastated health and education systems, and increased risks to children persist. UNICEF and partners face major obstacles, such as supply shortages, funding gaps, and logistical challenges, while restrictions on NGOs further hinder aid delivery.
How can you make a difference?
Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to State of Palestine Health and Nutrition section on post crisis Damage Needs Assessments, recovery strategy development and support to pooled funding mechanism, including proposal and UNICEF budget design.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Work closely with external partners on the design of G/RDNA and contribute to design implement early and long-term recovery plans, positioning UNICEF contribution in recovery plans while ensure needs of children are clearly emphasized in health and nutrition recovery assessment and recovery plans.
- Contribute to and lead on PHC (health and nutrition) bottleneck analysis and resilience analysis both infrastructure, staffing, products, and services.
- Identify and recommend solutions to address capacity gaps in PDNA/RDNA, recovery planning.
- Ensure multi-sectoral linkages and contributions are highlighted, solicit cross-sectoral inputs for a strong PHC assessment and recovery plan.
- Formulate positions/consensus on PHC priorities based on wider consultations and represent approach in external forum.
- Coordinate and develop comprehensive, modular PHC, health and nutrition recovery proposal (0-3 years) and budget incorporating main elements of UNICEF offer. Modules to be used to respond to specific large and small funding opportunities.
- Advise UNICEF on programming opportunities and commitments, including future technical and financial implementation roles.
Minimum requirements:
- Education:
Advanced university degree in Public Health, Public Health Care or another relevant technical field is required
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of ten years professions experience in:
- Public health Care with integrated nutrition, Health Systems, Health financing useful.
- Experience representing technical and strategic positions in health to senior humanitarian and development partners.
- Proven experience in transitioning from humanitarian to recovery and development programming.
- Experience conducting multistakeholder post-crisis recovery assessments an asset.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
