Assistant Nurse Manager, full-time day 7a-5p, Kahn 4-Med/Surg, Morristown Medical Center

Responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
2. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
3. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care. 
4. Maintains and manages nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff. 
5. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families and promoting patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and providing information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
6. Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
7. Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records and maintains patient confidence by monitoring confidential information processing.
8. Achieves financial objectives and ensures emergency equipment availability/nursing supplies and completing preventive maintenance requirements. 
9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge and maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams. 
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Kahn 4 Assistant Nurse Manager – Medical/Surgical Geriatric Unit

Full-Time

4 x 10 Hour Day Shifts per Week

(No Weekends or Holidays Required Unless Assigned for Regulatory Visits)

Position Summary:

Kahn 4 is seeking a self-driven, motivated, and team-oriented Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to join our Medical/Surgical Geriatric Unit. This is a leadership opportunity for a dedicated RN who excels in both clinical care and collaborative management. The ANM will assist the Nurse Manager in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and operational excellence, working closely with nursing leadership and a clinical partner in a co-leadership model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Nurse Manager to oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the unit.
• Act as a resource, mentor, and role model to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Support staff scheduling, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Assist with readiness and representation for regulatory agency visits, as needed.
• Foster a team culture that values collaboration, accountability, and respect.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BSN & Plan for MSN in Nursing leadership 
• Certification
• At least 3 years of recent experience in a medical/surgical setting
• Prior leadership experience (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, or supervisory role)
• Effective communicator and collaborator who works well with a leadership partner
• Self-starter with strong initiative and work ethic
• Resilient, adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Committed team player who models professional behavior and patient advocacy

 

 

 

 

Required:
1. BSN required.
2. BLS and ACLS Certification.
3. 2-5 years of experience in Nursing, or relevant area which includes experience in Basic Dysrhythmia. 
4. HRO training.

Preferred:
1. MSN preferred.
