Security Officer needed at Raytheon Richardson facility to protect life, safeguard classified and sensitive information and secure facility/offsite locations and equipment.
Nature of duties may involve high levels of mental and physical coordination especially in the handling of emergency situations, otherwise, normal attention is required. Continuous mental, visual and hearing attention necessary to monitor the console and to be vigilant to prevent damage to property, sabotage, malicious mischief, crimes of violence and enforce company rules and regulations. May require lifting (up to 25lbs) when performing maintenance operations, extinguishers, or fighting fires. You will be required to work independently with little supervision. This position could be assigned to all three shifts, weekends, and holidays. You must be able to remain calm and exercise extreme measures of good judgment and tact when dealing with an emergency situations
You also Must have and be able to maintain a current Texas Driver's License to operate company vehicle. You will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time and withstand severe weather conditions.
What You Will Do
- Perform a variety of duties such as protect life and safeguard property against fire, carelessness, negligence, malicious destruction, sabotage, espionage, and other damage.
- Must be able to investigate security incidents, safety hazards and accidents.
- Extinguish fires, direct traffic, detect, report and/or detain offenders, aid in preserving order and quelling disturbances and enforce related rules and regulations.
- Guard assigned gates, entrances, and restricted areas to prevent unauthorized entry and departure of persons, material, equipment and/or vehicles.
- Exercise tact and judgment when dealing with employees and other personnel to avoid friction and secure cooperation.
- Make detail reports of all accidents, violations, and suspicious circumstances or unsatisfactory conditions.
- Ensure emergency response personnel, company and noncompany are notified during major incidents / accidents occurring on your shift.
- Provide oral and written reports concerning security Infractions, safety hazards, incidents, and accidents.
- Keep current on information that may affect security operations by reading provided reports, memos, message logs and security polices & procedures.
- Operate security control center, electronic access gates and various applications on company related computer.
Qualifications You Must Have
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Must be able meet State registration and Certification requirements for Texas Department of Public Safety and obtain Level III Commission.
- Experience with Knowledge of security techniques and equipment.
- Experience applying rules, regulations, and order, as well as certain principles of security, police, and military authority and of criminal law involving personal liberties.
- Experience reading plans and diagrams to learn location of departments, fire equipment, signals, valves, operate a computer and other related equipment.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Current TS/SSBI, preferred.
- Previous training in DOD Industrial security administration, loss prevention and fire protection is preferred.
- First Aid, CPR and AED knowledge/certification is preferred.
