Overview:
BT Federal's CTO/CISO Office is currently seeking a dynamic Cybersecurity Technical Writer and Analyst to join our team. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about cybersecurity, possesses a solid understanding of its principles, and has the skills to effectively analyze, investigate, and mitigate security threats, coupled with a keen attention to cybersecurity documentation requirements for regulation and compliance.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in representing BT Federal with our customers and engaging with BT Federal senior leadership. Your responsibilities will include presenting findings, responding to inquiries, and documenting all pertinent information for our customers and BT Federal senior leadership. Additionally, you will be tasked with the ongoing monitoring, analysis, and response to security incidents and communicating and working with other team members to respond and close events.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting and participating in meetings with BT Federal senior leadership and government customers on various tasks, such as Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), incident response, Vulnerabilities and assessing the associated risks to our systems and data.
- Presenting and conducting weekly incidences and vulnerabilities meetings with the IT department on cybersecurity incidences and Responding to questions and completing various tasker(s)/deliverables that our customers and/or senior leadership may need to be completed.
- Assist the CTO/CISO in drafting goals and objectives, including contributing to the strategic plan; establishing, developing, and approving schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving cybersecurity goals. Develop and maintain security/compliance documentation, including BT Federal policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
- Review and make recommendations for implementing and maintaining security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint security solutions, MS Defender, and other compliance software/tools.
- Performing daily cybersecurity assessments and audits to identify weaknesses and perform or recommend remediation actions and collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine the root cause of incidents and implementing solutions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serving as the second line of BT Federal Escalation Roster for Critical/Major events.
- Being able to perform Tier I and II general IT functionality as needed.
Qualifications:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or related field.
- Two to four years of proven experience in cybersecurity analysis, preferably in a State and/or Federal Government or enterprise environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as NIST (Especially in NIST SP800-53), and CIS Controls.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and cybersecurity tools.
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM). Preference for skills with MS Sentinel, Graylog, Varonis, and/or Splunk.
- Experience with ticketing systems for change request and incidences. E.g., ServiceNow and/or Helix/Remedy.
- Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

- GSA Public Trust Clearance.
- Must have and/or be able to obtain within three months at the start of employment and maintain that clearance during employment with BT Federal.
