Vice President, Data Platform Lead

We are seeking a hands-on technology leader to drive the development of cloud and data platforms to support customer-facing energy programs, building and fleet electrification, demand-side management, and energy analytics. This role focuses on modernizing and creating new technical foundations for immediate program delivery while enabling AI-driven capabilities for the near future. The lead will accelerate our path to:
Platform: Scalable, performant, cost managed, and secure infrastructure
Data: Strategic data posture to best enable our consultants, products, AI future
AI: best positioning our data and people to thrive with AI acceleration
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and optimize cloud platforms, data and AI assets that support electrification and energy efficiency initiatives. Future work will expand into other domains.
Establish partnerships to scale delivery through reusable components, team growth, and external collaboration
Mentor technical staff and help advise future operational models and ways of working
Define and implement platform patterns to scale across business units and domains
SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Build scalable, secure data infrastructure to power real-time energy analytics, program measurement, and reporting
Enable data and AI/ML pipelines for predictive targeting, demand forecasting, and customer engagement
Implement CI/CD and infrastructure automation pipelines using infrastructure-as-code
Ensure platform observability and performance via SRE principles and robust monitoring solutions
Optimize and create new integrations to AMI, sensor, and external energy datasets
Support understanding and compliance with FedRAMP, SOC 2, NERC CIP, OpenADR, and other regulatory security and data standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
12+ years of experience in cloud engineering, data platform delivery, and infrastructure
Hands-on expertise in Azure, cloud-native architecture, and modern DevOps practices
Strong background in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and secure data system design
Experience building or enabling AI/ML pipelines in production environments
Familiarity with GenAI tooling, vector search, or scenario planning platforms
Familiarity with energy efficiency, electrification, or utility program delivery
Experience with AMI, building energy data, DER integration, or electrification
Previous work in consulting, public sector, or regulated industries
EXPECTED WORK PATTERNS
Work with strategic and domain stakeholders to identify and prioritize highest value opportunities to advance cloud, data, and AI.
Leverage your advanced toolbox as an experience engineer to provide what’s needed to advanced initiatives forward. This could be individually doing technical work, leading a small team, or facilitating activities to accelerate path to outcomes.
