About the role

Overview The Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Student Employee to support the day-to-day operations of the HR team. This position provides hands-on experience in human resources administration through work involving employee records, hiring processes, personnel transactions, and internal communications. The student will gain practical experience with HR systems and university employment processes while developing professional skills in a collaborative office environment. This position is ideal for students interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Responsibilities This student employee will assist the Human Resources team with a variety of administrative and operational tasks, including: Enter and process Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) for employee transactions such as terminations, transfers, and other personnel changes. Monitor and track applicants throughout the hiring process to help ensure timely completion of recruitment activities. Maintain records of new hires and assist in tracking required onboarding and New Hire Orientation attendance. Perform data entry, filing, document management, and recordkeeping while maintaining confidentiality of employee information. Assist with employee communications, including drafting emails, preparing announcements, and supporting HR initiatives. Help maintain accurate HR records and reports using university systems and Microsoft Office applications. Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources team and complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be a currently enrolled student at Auburn University Valid US driver's license Age 19 or older Ability to work 20 hours per week Strong written and verbal communication skills (email etiquette, professional interaction). Ability to maintain attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite and Excel). Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity. Willingness to learn HR processes, policies, and procedures. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preference will be given to students who: Are pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
