About the role

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

11

The Team:

Credit Ratings is an integral part of the Global Ratings Services team, comprising a diverse group of 1,400 analysts spread across key financial hubs worldwide. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and exceptional client service across all industry sectors.

The Public Finance practice delivers credit opinions on public-sector issuers (including states/provinces, local governments, public agencies, not-for-profits, and infrastructure-related municipal issuers). Analysts translate local economic and demographic trends, revenue stability, governance, and long-term liabilities into transparent views that help communities finance essential services and long-duration investments.

As a Senior Analyst on the Americas Public Finance (Midwest Local Government), the role will lead credit analysis for counties, municipalities, and school districts in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Key responsibilities include meeting with issuers, assessing historical and projected data, and translating findings into clear, thorough committee presentations and written analysis. The role may also involve moderately complex analytical and deal-specific situations, supporting client needs, participating in investor calls with more senior analysts, and contributing to research for publications or special projects. As the career progresses, the role may include opportunities to present at conferences, support and author opinion pieces, or engage with the media.
