We launched in the US in 2022 with the goal of building a better kind of bank. So far, we’ve introduced personal accounts, joint accounts, savings (3.75% APY), rewards (2% cash back), and virtual cards, with more to come.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and impact-driven Head of Engineering to lead our growing US engineering team as we scale Monzo across the American market. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a product that is already live with checking, savings, and money management tools, serving over 150,000 customers with strong retention, and to help us grow to millions more.

As Head of Engineering, you will report directly to the US CEO and work closely with senior leaders across product, design, marketing, and operations. You will be responsible for engineering performance and execution in the US, with autonomy over local technical and product decisions. You will also benefit from Monzo’s proven UK platform, tools, and infrastructure.

This role is critical to the next chapter of Monzo’s journey as we scale the US business, grow the team rapidly, and embed the best of Monzo’s global engineering culture locally.

What You Will Be Accountable For

• The delivery, quality, and effectiveness of all technical implementation across Monzo US
• The health, performance, and caliber of the US engineering organization
• Scaling the team while maintaining urgency, cohesion, and delivery excellence
• Building strong connections with Monzo Ltd. and the global engineering organization, bringing proven solutions, culture, and practices to the US while aligning with Monzo’s global execution model
