Software Engineer 2

We are looking for a UIX Developer/Software Engineer to bring creative solutions to complex problems and display an understanding of human interactions with graphical user interfaces for tools and interfaces across the TRSO. The selected candidate needs to have skills that make them an innovative digital product designer with the skills and experiences to design, implement, execute and deliver high quality user-centered designs and products. The candidate must have the interpersonal and technical skills necessary to collaborate openly and efficiently with team members, leadership and stakeholders to include backend engineers and database engineers to bring the requested/needed data. The candidate is expected to collect user requirements and decompose those requirements into user stories and implementable solutions.
The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade- offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Required Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Agency Appropriate Polygraph
• Fourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong programming experience using HTML/CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, Java, and GIT
• Ability to implement and leverage REST APIs
• Ability to implement and execute .api CRUD interfaces between tools
• Experience with enterprise web applications
• Understanding of incorporating security compliance and security best practices into the user interface
• Working experience with UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites flow, function and look
• Familiarity with Atlassian Tools such as Confluence and Jira
• Working knowledge of design tools such as Gliffy and Draw.io to draft and document wireframes that the end user would be expected to see and interact with

Desired Technical Skills

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies a plus
• Certification in Java and/or JavaScript and Certification in UI Platforms is a plus
