The Life Cycle Assessment Engineer role is based in Lancaster, PA and requires strong technical skills and the ability to apply Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) within a business environment to drive measurable sustainability outcomes. The candidate will own execution of LCA efforts for Armstrong products, including delivery of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and integrate insights into product, manufacturing, and enterprise decision-making.

What will you do?
- Plan, communicate, and execute Life Cycle Assessments and related projects
- Perform and validate LCA modeling using leading LCA software packages
- Develop LCA-related tools and training for AWI teams, including Innovation and Sustainability
- Develop product and plant strategies to achieve embodied carbon reduction targets
- Manage supplier data collection and engagement
- Lead development and delivery of environmental product declarations (EPDs)
- Develop product-level strategies and support execution of multi-year sustainability outcomes
- Identify opportunities for impact reduction using tools such as energy efficiency, material optimization, and supply chain engagement
- Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and cross-functional teams to develop material health disclosures and support ESG goals
- Apply technical knowledge to advance front-end innovation and sustainability initiatives
- Participate in and contribute to external standards and sustainability organizations (e.g., ASTM, LEED)
- Identify new approaches to apply LCA across multiple product categories
- Monitor trends in LCA methodologies, markets, and reporting standards and share insights with AWI teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in at least one major LCA modeling software (e.g., GaBi, SimaPro, One Click LCA, OpenLCA)
- Knowledge of LCA standards, EPD/PCR frameworks, and the regulatory landscape (state and federal) related to sustainability, chemicals of concern, and product compliance
