Core Functions: 

  • Provide direct counseling services for at least 8 hours and 12 hours per week across a minimum of two academic terms.
  • Comply with clinical documentation standards and deadlines with the established Electronic Health Records (EHR) system under the direct supervision of the Director or licensed mental health clinician.
  • Maintain schedule as agreed with the director/supervisor/training program
  • Assist with other clinic-related matters, including community outreach activities, as assigned.

Background/Expertise: 

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly desired
  • Understanding of and adherence to FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, electronic health records/practice management software, and other office equipment, including fax machines, copiers, and scanners
  • Prior relevant experience in an academic or healthcare setting or familiarity with working in a clinical counseling environment is highly preferred.   Demonstrated skills in organization, multi-tasking, and record-keeping are required.
  • Enrolled in a clinical internship course with faculty endorsement for practice
  • Excellent grammar and editing skills.
  • Willingness to apply counseling skills
  • Highly skilled in client case conceptualization, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Ability to learn new ways of applying clinical skills to meet client needs
  • Technically proficient and learns and uses new technology in clinical practice.
  • Responsible, timely, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Growth mindset with desire and willingness to develop additional counseling skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
